History of
Knightsville United Methodist Church
We trace our history to August 22, 1876, when property on Orangeburg Road was deeded from Daniel H. Knight to the Cypress Circuit. Originally known as Old John Wesley Methodist Church, the name was changed by 1878 to Branch Methodist Church.
In 1958, ground was broken at our current location and we changed our name to Knightsville Methodist Church. This building was completed on September 6, 1959, consisting of a sanctuary, an education wing with six classrooms, a social hall, and a kitchen. A seven-room parsonage was added in 1964, and was expanded in 1986. The parsonage now serves as home to our Youth and Young Adults ministries.
The sanctuary was remodeled in 1993 and the Carillon bells were installed in 1999 to ring in the new millennium.
The Education Building and Family Life Center/Gymnasium were added in 2004.
We have a long history and we give God the praise for the blessings of the past years. We pray for His guidance and love as we move forward on life's road to the future in this Church.
